MATRIX Professional Panel System PDF Print E-mail

The Matrix system

InField Systems has years of experience providing rental of portable floors and roadways around the world. Our big idea is that a new and clever system should serve several different applications in order to maximize utilization. Our solution: The MATRIX™ Versatile Panel System.

The base unit is the MATRIX™ panel. It is incredibly fast to deploy. You can deliver 14,000 square feet (1300 square meters) per truck. The joints are replaceable which makes total cost of ownership much lower than competing products. Once the system is quickly deployed you can use it as a roadway for vehicles and heavy equipment on most terrain. It will even accommodate heavy equipment on unprepared ground. Bottom line: MATRIX™ is extremely capable! The “Elastomer” joint is truly innovative. It allows for undulating installs. It also minimizes stress between panels. The MATRIX™ joint is an awesome feat of engineering conceived by some of the most creative engineers we could find. Only by looking outside our industry were we able to see things in this new and innovative way.

The tongue-in-groove system is designed to transfer weight from one panel to the next. The (optional) solid bottom will keep the surface from bedding into even the softest ground.

The elastomer joint allows the panels to find the most opportune position for performance that does not result in panel or joint failure. It is very different than the “overlay” systems used by other failed systems. The “elastomer” system was designed by MIT engineers with competing failures in mind. MATRIX™ was designed for supreme performance and durability for our defense and event projects all around the world.

If you are a Portable Roadway Enthusiast - as we are - you will be amazed at the organic nature of the MATRIX™ joint. It is truly remarkable as you watch the interaction of panels and heavy-duty equipment. All materials serve a purpose for the targeted use. There are no large overlaps that have limited usefulness and add significant weight and cube. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Elastomer joint is that it allows the MATRIX™ system to accommodate undulating ground, thermal expansion and mis-aligned panels with ease.

Stress on a static joint will build and then break. Stress on our “Elastomer” joint will release pressure as the joint stretches and moves as required.

This is where these innovations pay off for you: You can fit more MATRIX™ on a truck than competing products, but the capacity of MATRIX™ is greater than competing products. The MATRIX™ Portable Roadway System uses a minimal amount of material and space in order to provide superior performance for a temporary roadway.

The MATRIX™ Versatile Panel System can be expanded way beyond its initial use. Add a minimal number of components and MATRIX™ becomes a raised floor and staging system. That’s right - with a minimal additional investment your MATRIX™ System becomes a leveled floor, a raised floor and a staging system. By adding functionality you can increase revenue generating utilization from one week per month to two or three weeks per month.

Like all InField products, MATRIX™ was engineered for fast and easy deployment. Our standards for deployment and recovery are for unskilled and inexperienced labor to reach max speed within one hour (with one supervisor). The MATRIX™ System is truly portable to allow for efficient temporary roadway use without leaving a footprint when your production is complete.

VIDEO: MATRIX on soft ground

MATRIX™ was installed over some very soft ground. We drove a lot of stuff over it to determine what it can and cannot do. MATRIX handled all the equipment at our disposal. Here is an example.
